Privacy Policy

Overview

William is designed to respect your privacy. The app has no advertising SDKs, no analytics services, no crash reporting, and no behavioral tracking of any kind. All data you create belongs to you and is stored in your own private iCloud account.

Data We Store

All data you enter into William is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synchronized to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. This data includes:

Your currency preference is stored in your device's standard user defaults storage and, where applicable, synchronized across your devices via iCloud's key-value store.

iCloud Sync

If you are signed into iCloud, your subscription data is automatically synchronized across your devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. This means your data is encrypted and stored in your own iCloud account, accessible only to you. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your CloudKit data.

Favicon Fetching

When you add a subscription with a URL, William may attempt to load the website's favicon image from that domain for display in the app. This request is made directly from your device to the subscription's own website — the same network request your browser would make when you visit that site. No data about this request is transmitted to us. If you prefer not to load external images, you can leave the URL field blank when adding a subscription.

What We Do Not Do

Notifications

If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device to alert you before each subscription charges. Notification content (subscription name, cost, and timing) is generated entirely on-device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can enable or disable notifications at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Children's Privacy

William does not collect personal information from any user. The app is suitable for users of all ages and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date.

Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using William ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

License

William grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms of Service.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Your Content

All content you enter into the App — subscription names, costs, URLs, billing schedules, tags, and any other data — belongs entirely to you. We make no claim to ownership of any information you store in the App. Your data is stored in your own private iCloud account and on your own devices; it is entirely under your control.

iCloud & Data Availability

Synchronization of data between devices depends on your iCloud account and connectivity. The developer is not responsible for sync failures, data conflicts, or delays caused by iCloud service interruptions. iCloud is a service provided and operated by Apple, not by the developer of William.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

William displays subscription billing dates and costs as entered by you. The App does not connect to banks, payment processors, or subscription services, and cannot verify actual charges. You are responsible for confirming payment details with your financial institutions and service providers.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER OF WILLIAM BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, MISSED PAYMENTS, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES, LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Data Loss

While iCloud sync provides a form of backup across devices, you are ultimately responsible for your data. The developer is not responsible for any loss of data resulting from device failure, accidental deletion, iCloud errors, operating system updates, or any other cause. Maintaining independent records of important subscription information is always recommended.

Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, and all associated content — excluding content you create — are the intellectual property of the developer and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved.

Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services for data synchronization. Your use of those services is subject to Apple's terms. The App may also make network requests to third-party domains solely to retrieve favicon images associated with subscription URLs you provide. No other third-party services are integrated. Your use of the App on an Apple device is also subject to the Apple Standard EULA.

Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of their provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete it from your device.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect.

Changes to Terms

The developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
